Gummy Bear osmosis

 Gummy Bear osmosis

Aim

I want to find out what happens to Gummy Bears when they are put into different solutions.

Prediction: I predict that they will dissolve into the solutions.

Method: get your equipment and put on your safety glasses, using the marker pen.write the name of the condition on the petri dish.DRY, WATER, SALTWATER, SUGAR WATER.weigh gummy bear and write the weigh on the the petri dish measure 40ml of the solution and pour it into the petri dish.

equipment:

1. 4x gummy bears

2. 2x petri dishes

3. paper towels

4. marker pen

5. water

6. sugar water

7. salt water

10. measuring cylinder

step 1. get your equipment.

step 2. put on your safety glasses

step 3. using the marker pen.write the name of the condition on the petri dish.DRY, WATER, SALTWATER, SUGAR WATER

step 4. weigh gummy bear and write the weigh on the the petri dish.

step 5. measure 40ml of the solution and pour it into the petri dish.

Discussion
1.The normal water was transferred into the gummy bear the most.
2.The dry gummy bear lost 0.11 grams over a week.
3.The sugar water diffused faster than the salt water

Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.Diffusion happens in liquid and gases because their particles move randomly from place to place.Diffusion is an important process for living things.

Body percussion

Hey everyone so i'm going to be telling you what we did in our Hurumau 2.

In our Hurumanu 2 we had music for the a past few weeks we have been learning about body percussion.Body percussion is when you make different noises using your body,in my group I had Finau,Neveah,Neela Eunize and myself. For our body percussion we used wooden drum sticks, slippers and a hard cardboard roll.Few weeks ago we practised our body percussion and today we did a little bit of practice and recorded it.

Here is what we recorded hope u like it!! :)

HEROES

Hello guys in our Nga tangata Hurumanu 1 we studied the lives of some local, national and international heroes. A hero is a male or a female or group of people who aren’t measured by the size of their strength, but the strength of their heart. I also made slides of 6 sport heroes and they were, Sir Richard Hadlee, Chelsea Bremner, Jo Aleh, Sir Peter Blake, Lebron James and Serena Williams. After that I made some slides about a local hero who achieved in his community. Bill Sutton was a portrait and landscape artist, who also taught some of the famous Canterbury artists in Christchurch. Then we also read about a musical group called Crowded House. They were said to be heroes for one day when they performed in Christchurch recently. We talked about the meaning of hero worship. The hero I worship is Jeon Jungkook. The earthquake heroes I searched about were George Piper, st.john Ambulance, Amo pertini, Andrea robinson, Andrea cummings, Ashley M Vicker, Blair Corkran and Charlie hobbs.I also wrote about myself as a superhero,my alias was Ichika. Here is my stroy. Hi guys my name is Ichika and I’m 17 years old. I’m also a superhero. I live in Japan. Everyday is exciting for me,I’m in the hashira (demon killing corp) I always go to the forest and hunt down demons, even though I’m short but that doesn't matter to me as long as I have my sword with me. After I have done that I go into my favorite Ramen restaurant that I always go to,after I have eaten my ramen I love to get myself some dumplings that you get for free.

Hope you like it :)

Skittles chromatography

Hey guys this is my work for science.

 Skittles

Aim: to use water to extract the dye from the skittles using the process of  chromatography.

Materials

1. 5 skittles

2. water

3. Petri dish

4. beaker

process

step 1. place the skittles into the peri dish around the edges

step 2. pour 100ml water gently into the middle of the peri dish

step 3. record and take while watching the colors spread.

step 4. post it into your blog

Ernest Godward / The Egg Beater

Hey guys so today in our hurumanu 3  we had to choose an New Zealand inventor, me and my friend did it together.

Ernest Godward / The Egg Beater

Who is Ernest Godward?

Ernest Godward was an English born inventor who moved to New Zealand. He was born in Marylebone, London on 7 April 1869. He was an engineer. He has invented many inventions.

What inventions did Ernest Godward make?

Ernest Godward had invented and patented an egg-beater that could prepare eggs for a sponge cake in three and a half minutes. He had also invented a new post-hole borer, a new type of hair curler, a burglar-proof window and a hedge trimmer made from bicycle parts.

When and why did he invent the egg beater

Ernest Godward made the egg beater in 1900. He made the egg beater so it would be easier for people to beat eggs for cakes mainly for sponge cakes. (That's all the information I could find on why he has made the egg beater.)

Facts:

--When Ernest Godward was 12, he was sent to prep school (private school) but after he ran to the seas landing in Japan, where he worked at a cabling ship between Nagasaki and Vladivostok, where the big US bomb landed and destroyed almost everything.

--He was also a son of a firefighter.

Using a Bunsen Burner

Hey, today I will be sharing the fast experiment we did in science today.

Aim: To demonstrate how to heat a liquid inside a test tube.

Equipment: Bunsen Burner, Heatproof mat, lighter, test tube, test tube tongs, safety glasses.

Method:

1. Light the Bunsen burner.

2. Fill your test tube to approximately 5 ml water.

3. Turn the collar at the Bunsen burner so it is a blue flame.

4. Holding the test tube with test tube tongs. Tilt the test tube on 45 degree angle and place the bottom of the test tube into the flame Ensure that the mouth of the test tube is not pointing towards anybody.

5.gently wave the test tube in and out of the flame. Remember you are trying to boil the water .

6.once the water starts  to gently bubbly, take it away from the flame..carefully pour the hot water into the sink.

Hurumanu reading activities

Hello guys so in our Hurumanu 3 reading activities we have been writing and reading about inventions. But this time we had to make our own invention and write what it does and stuff about it and how it can help us humans.

Here is my inventions it's not good but it's okay!

Here is the link to my work
